Richmond, BC, Canada is home to the Vancouver International Airport. That makes Richmond on of the main gateways to British Columbia. Richmond is only 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver.

Richmond is surrounded by water, to the west is the Strait of Georgia and to the north and southwest is the Fraser River. Richmond is located between the north and south arms of the Fraser River. Richmond is actually composed of several islands surrounded by an extensive dike system that provides over 50 miles (80 Km) of hiking and biking trails allowing extensive viewing of the river and the wildlife that abounds in the area.

Richmond is located in the Greater Vancouver area in southwestern British Columbia immediately south of the City of Vancouver, BC. If you get the idea that Richmond is all urban, keep in mind that this area is North America’s third largest producer of cranberries.

Downtown Richmond - Today Richmond is a busy multi-cultural community that has lost its small town atmosphere. It is a vibrant interesting community with very interesting shopping opportunities like a whole shopping center full of Asian shops from grocery stores to jewelry. The Golden Village – The Asian cultural center with restaurants, entertainment and unique shops featuring Asian specialties. It is bordered by Sea Island Way, Lansdowne Road, Garden City Road, and No. 3 Road and includes Aberdeen Centre, Yaohan Centre, Lansdowne Centre, and Parker Place.

Richmond Museum – Richmond Cultural Center – The Richmond Museum is located in the Richmond Cultural Center. It has exhibits of historical and cultural significance to the development and history of the City of Richmond.

Steveston Attractions

Historic Steveston - at the mouth of the Fraser River

Steveston is a historic turn of the century (1900) fishing village. Originally this was a village built around the Salmon Canning industry and the canneries located in the area. Today Steveston is a thriving tourist community with interesting gift shops, galleries, antique shops, and quaint restaurants.
