SurryNeighborhoods2007.jpgCloverdale, British Columbia, Canada is located in the lower mainland of British Columbia.

Cloverdale is an unincorporated city or neighborhood with a population of over 30,000, located in the City of Surrey.

The City of Surrey is more like a County in the United States than a city in that it really has several individual communities within its boundaries.  Like a city in the United States, it is governed by a Mayor and council.

You can click here or on the map to see a larger version.

Don’t be confused by us acting like there are individual cities inside Surrey.  There is only one governmental entity, the City of Surrey and Cloverdale is only a neighborhood of Surrey.  The thing is, if you ask a local where Cloverdale is he will give you directions and act like it is a city.  Cloverdale feels like a city in that it has a central business core with surrounding residential areas.  You will find traffic signs that point to Cloverdale.  They even keep track of the population of Cloverdale, it is around 17,000 and growing rapidly.  To add to the appearance that Cloverdale is a city, it even has its own Chamber of Commerce.  We have links to the Chamber in our Recommended Attractions section below.

Where is Cloverdale?

The City of Cloverdale, BC is located in the lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada.  Cloverdale is southeast of Vancouver, BC and north of Blaine, WA, USA.

Cloverdale is just above and to the right of the “City of Surrey” letters on the map of Surrey, above.

Getting to Cloverdale

Cloverdale, BC is most easily accessed from the east or the west by taking  the Cloverdale / 176th Street exit of Trans-Canada Highway-1 and heading south on 176th Street for 4.4 mi. (7 Km).

From the south (Washington State) it is most easily accessed by taking the truck crossing in Blaine, WA.  When you cross into Canada you are already on 176th Street and you need only continue north to Cloverdale.  It is about 8 mi (12.9 Km) from the border to Cloverdale.

Cloverdale is still a “Classic City” with a main street (176th Street) where you can shop and have coffee with your friends.
