WA-10W-Lynden.jpgLynden, WA is located in northwest Washington State near the Canadian Border in Whatcom County.  The area was settled by Dutch farmers in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.  The city displays, and is proud of, its Dutch heritage.

Lynden lies along the banks of the Nooksack river.  In this area the river runs through a small valley so that flooding does not affect the city.

Lynden is a city of just over 10,000 people located 5 mi. south of the Canadian Border and 15 miles directly north of Bellingham.  It is about 2 hours north of Seattle and around 45 miles from Vancouver, BC, Canada.

MainStreet01Lynden is the second largest city in Whatcom County and has served as the hub of north-

county life for years.  It has a vibrant Historic Downtown Lynden and a modern center of growth in new business along Meridian west of the downtown area.

Windmill01

Lynden is home of the Northwest Washington Fair.  This regional fair draws about 200,000 people annually to the community.

Lynden’s Historic Downtown offers such delights as Dutch Bakeries and family restaurants to take care of your hunger while you shop in the quaint shops.

Lynden01North of the Historic Downtown is Homestead Farms Golf Resort & Convention Center with a hotel, restaurant, and 18 hole golf course.  It is surrounded by a planned residential community.

You won’t want to miss the Lynden Pioneer Museum located at 217 Front Street with its collection of horse-drawn carriages and farm equipment, antique vehicles, military displays and a depiction of Front Street as it appeared many years ago.

If you like walking among old growth forest, walk through ancient old growth cedars in Berthusen Park, located west of town.
