Anacortes, WA is located in western Skagit County on Fidalgo Island which is separated from the mainland by Swinomish Slough. Skagit County is shown in red on the Washington State Map to the left.

Where is Anacortes?

Anacortes is most easily found by taking Interstate-5 Exit 230 at Burlington, 60 miles north of Seattle, and turning west onto State Highway-20 (WA-20). Travel west about 12 miles and you will find a branch where WA-20 turn left (south) to Oak Harbor and Whidbey Island and WA-20A goes straight to Anacortes. Continue strait for 4 miles and you will find yourself in Anacortes. In south Anacortes you will come to what appears to be an abrupt end of the highway. Turn right onto Commercial Street, WA-20A continues on Commercial Street to 12^th Street where it turns left (west) to the Washington State Ferry terminal to the San Juan Islands. Continue straight on Commercial Street at 12^th and you will find the Historic Downtown Area.
