Bow, Alger, and
Edison are three small communities in the northwest corner of Skagit
County, Washington. Skagit County is
shown in red on the map of Washington State to the left.
Bow
Bow, WA is a small
village in northwestern Skagit County in Washington State. Bow is actually located on the southern
portion of Chuckanut Drive – State
Route-11 (WA-11) just south of where WA-11 leaves the Chuckanut Mountains
and enters the flat lands of the Skagit River Valley.
Bow is 4 miles
northwest of Interstate-5 Exit 231(Chuckanut Drive) in Burlington.

At the intersection
that is Downtown Bow (Junction of WA-11 and the Bow Hill Road) you will find
the Post Office on the west side of the road and the Rhododendron Café on
the east side of the road.
This
is a rural area consisting of farmlands on the Skagit River Delta and rural
residential areas on the hills to the north and east of Bow.

Edison
Edison has a population of 133 in the
2000 census. Edison is on the flat
farmlands of the Skagit River Valley.
Edison is 4 miles west of WA-11 on the Bow Hill Road. This is a farming community with a liquor
store, two restaurants/taverns, and several empty commercial buildings.

Alger
Alger is 14 miles north of Mount Vernon
on old Highway-99, further north than Bow and Edison and on the east side
of Interstate-5. Alger is about a
mile east of Interstate-5 Exit 240 and it is nearly on the northern Border
of Skagit County.
Alger has a restaurant/tavern, a motel,
and a couple other businesses. Alger
is in the foothills of the Chuckanut Mountains. In the 2000 census its population was 89
people. Alger’s claim to fame is the
Skagit Speedway which is south of the community on old Highway-99.
