Espresso Exit by Exit

This is the first exit to Bellingham from the South.  There are no food establishments near this exit.  The importance of this exit is that it is the entrance to the Historic Fairhaven District and the Alaska Ferry Terminal at Bellingham.  There is also a multi-modal transportation terminal at the Alaska Ferry Terminal site that has City Transit, Greyhound, and Amtrak.

 

Historic Fairhaven is a favorite tourist spot.  Many of the buildings from the turn of the century are still standing and the area is full of unique shops and restaurants.

 

Ferry

The Alaska State Ferry departs weekly from its terminal in the Fairhaven District. During the summer months there is also a Tuesday sailing.  Click on the hotlink for schedules and prices.

Parks and other things to do

There are three city parks close to this exit.  

 Fairhaven Park, Boulevard Park, and Waterfront Park.

  

Larabee State Park can be reached from this exit.  This was Washington’s first state park.  Camping, picnicking, saltwater beach.

 

Historic Fairhaven District

Shop in the Historic Fairhaven District – one mile to the wast – Restaurants, unique shops, parks, and hotels are in this interesting district
