Mount Vernon is located in the northwest corner of Washington State. Downtown Mount Vernon can be found by taking Interstate-5 Exit 226. Mount Vernon is also in Skagit County. Skagit County is shown in red on the Washington State map to the left.

Mount Vernon is located at the junction of the Skagit River and Interstate-5 sixty miles north of Seattle and sixty miles south of the Canadian Border. Mount Vernon is on the south bank of the river and Burlington is on the north bank.

Interstate-5 Exit 227 is the north most exit into Mount Vernon. It will take you to College Way and the new commercial center of Mount Vernon. This part of Mount Vernon is where all of the new commercial development has occurred in the last few years.

Its location puts Mount Vernon right in the middle of a vast array of Tourist activities. This makes the city a great place to stay and take day trips into the San Juan Islands or the North Cascades from here..
