because the Mount Saint Helens Volcanic
National Monument
visitors center is located 6 mi. east of I-5 Exit 49 on the Spirit Lake
Highway WA-504.
Castle Rock is located between I-5 Exits 48 and 49. The historic downtown lies west of the

downtown Castle Rock. This growing
area is the home of several restaurants, tourist facilities, and motels
The historic downtown is located along the Cowlitz River. The town’s name sake, a 150 foot high
rock was a landmark for the Cowlitz Indians long before the white man
arrived.
