Visitor information about
wineries in the Tri-Cities area of Washington State. The Tri-Cities are made up of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland, WA.
We have included all of the wineries
in Benton and Franklin Counties
on this page. Pasco
is in Franklin County and Kennewick
and Richland are in Benton County. Franklin
and Benton Counties are shown in yellow in the
map to the left and the rest of Wine Country is in red.
We have also included Benton City in the Tri-Cities even though
it is actually in the Yakima AVA (American Viticulture Area)
It should be noted that the
Yakima Valley AVA is the oldest wine growing appellation registered

with the US
Government. The Red Mountain AVA
around Benton
City is also wholly
contained in the Yakima Valley AVA.
Then, just to add to your
confusion someone got together and registered the Columbia Valley AVA. It is the largest AVA in Washington State and the entire Yakima Valley
AVA is contained in it. All of the
wineries on this page are in the Columbia Valley AVA. However, not all of the wineries in the
Columbia AVA are listed on this page.
Its the
Grapes!
The grapes grown in the Pacific Northwest are among the best wine grapes grown
in the world.
Although grapes have been
grown in northern California for over 100
years only recently have they been grown in British
Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
As recently as 1980 there were
only 20 wineries and probably only that many grape farms in Washington State. Today there are over 350 wine grape
growers in Washington
State

Wine Regions
The largest wine region in Washington State is the Columbia Valley AVA
(American Viticultural Area). It includes
the Horse Haven Hill, Red Mountain, Walla
Walla, and Yakima Valley AVAs within its
boundaries.
The Columbia Valley AVA
includes the Columbia River Valley from Bonneville Dam up through the
Tri-Cities, north to Wenatchee and even a
portion of the area around Lake
Roosevelt. Also included in the AVA is the Snake River Valley
in Southwest Washington State.
