If you are only passing through Portland and do not plan on stopping we highly suggest you take Interstate 205, it bypasses the downtown traffic congestion but has a fair amount of traffic itself.  During rush hour every highway in Portland can become a parking lot.

Traveling to and visiting Portland, OR is a great experience you won’t want to miss.  Portland is a unique city with the Columbia River and the Washington / Oregon state line as its Northern border and the Willamette River cutting Southward right through the heart of the City.  Portland is also the Western end of Interstate 84 a main East / West Interstate highway.
