Lincoln City is relatively new. It was incorporated in 1965. The Incorporation was a merging of five communities; Oceanlake, Delake,, Taft, Cutler City, and Nelscott. These districts can still be identified by the names of businesses. The placement of business and business districts reflects the city’s history.

Settlement in the area really began when Congress passed the Dawes Act in 1887 allowing settlement on reservation lands. The five communities that made up Lincoln City came into being in the early 1900’s.

Points of Interest

One interesting note is that the 45^th Parallel, the mid-point between the equator and the North Pole goes right through the golf course north of town.

One of the most impressive additions to the town is the Chinook Winds Casino located in the north end of Lincoln City west of US-101.

The Locals boast that there are more oceanfront rooms in Lincoln City than any other city on Oregon’s coast.
