Visitor Information for the Central Western Oregon sub-region of northwest Oregon State.

Central Western Oregon

Our Central Western Oregon sub-region is made up of the southern end of the Willamette River Valley.  This valley lies west of the Cascade Mountains and east of the Coastal Mountain Range.  It also lies south of Portland, Oregon.

The coastal mountains keep the fog and low clouds on the coast giving the Willamette Valley a warmer climate than the coast.  The valley is west of the Cascade Mountains which cause moisture to fall before going over the mountains so the Willamette Valley is one of the best farming areas in the world.

Interstate-5 goes down the Willamette Valley south of Portland and the cities of Salem, Albany, Corvallis, and Eugene are in this area. Salem is the State Capital.

In the Northwest Oregon map shown above Central Western Oregon is shown on the lower right hand corner of the map.  This area is about 70 miles north to south and about 80 miles east to west from the Coastal Mountains to the Cascade Range.

On Interstate-5 this area ranges from Exit 170 south of Eugene to Exit 263 north of Salem.
