Visitor Information for Oregon’s Southern Coast.  Our division between the Central Coast and the Southern Coast is the county line between Lane and Douglas Counties which lies between the Cities of Florence and Reedsport.  The southern border of the South Coast is the California State Line.

Oregon’s South Coast offers a wide variety of spectacular ocean beaches from wide and sandy to steep cliffs that dive into the Pacific Ocean.

The cities along the south coast offer a wide variety of attractions.  The cities are listed from north to south in the green column to the left.

The South Coast isn’t just about the coastal cities and the Pacific Ocean.  The coastal mountain offer another whole aspect for the visitor with their mountain lookouts and wild unspoiled rivers.

The Dunes

In the north end Reedsport is the gateway to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.  Reedsport sits just about in the middle of this 40 mile stretch of undisturbed ocean beaches.  The tallest dunes in the United States are in this recreation area.  For more information about this area click on Reedsport and Winchester Bay  in the green column on the left of this page.  The Headquarters of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area is located in Reedsport at the junction of US-101 and OR-38.

Oregon’s Bay Area

The area of Charleston, Coos Bay, and North Bend are the center of Oregon’s Bay Area.

North Bend, to the north, and Coos Bay have grown together.  Their boundary is just north of the Mill Casino.  Charleston is 8 miles to the west on the Cape Argo highway (OR-240).

Coos Bay is a large protected bay with several sloughs.  Charleston is located at the opening to South Slough which is just south of the opening of Coos Bay into the Pacific Ocean.  For more information in this area click on our North Bend,

Coos Bay, and Charleston links in the green column to the left of this page.

Bandon By The Sea

Bandon sits right in the middle between the Dunes and the “Wild Rivers” area of the south coast.  Bandon offers a great Oceanside State Park, a Lighthouse to visit, a quaint waterfront and old town area, a game farm, and the Bandon Dunes Golf Course Resort to mention a few attractions.  For more information click on Bandon in the green column at the left of this page.

America’s Wild Rivers Coast

The south end of the Southern Coast from Northern California 100 miles to the north is the “America’s Wild Rivers Coast.”  Not only does this area offer some of Oregon’s best beaches it also offers towering forests and an opportunity to see, up close and personal, some of America’s last remaining unspoiled wild rivers.  Water Jet boats will whisk up back into the wild country of the Coast Range or you can hike the many trails.  For more information on this area click on Port Orford,

Gold Beach, or Brookings in the green column at the left of this page.
