Interstate 5
Exit 690 Redding, CA
Main Exit to
downtown Redding, CA
This
is the Exit to use to access California Highway 299
West to Arcata,
CA; Eureka, CA, and the Pacific Coast
State Highway 44
begins at this exit headed
East to
Susanville, CA and Reno, NV.

Highway 299 to the West is an interesting highway
to access the Pacific Coast and Highway 101 from I-5. The first stop East of Redding is in the town of Shasta. There are ruins of the buildings from the
1850’s that were torn down and moved to Redding when the county seat was moved
to Redding. There is a State Park here
with a museum that should not be missed.
This route should be avoided if you don’t like extremely curvy mountain
pass highways. Allow a minimum of 4
hours to reach Arcata, CA on the Pacific Coast.
