US Highway 20
West Yellowstone, Montana, USA
On our “Great Western Circle” Tour we traveled on Interstate 15 from Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City and went north to the Utah / Idaho State Line. We continued north on Interstate 15, in Idaho, to Idaho Falls. Then we traveled northwest from Idaho Falls on US Highway 20 to the Idaho / Montana State Line. On this page, we continue northwest on US-20 in Montana to the City of West Yellowstone on our way to Yellowstone National Park.
A small tip of Montana juts south below Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and eastern Idaho. Highway 20 is only 20 miles long from the Idaho / Montana state line to the west entrance of Yellowstone. The city of West Yellowstone lies just outside the west gate.
