The Greater Tacoma area offers a wide variety of Hotels, motels and Bread and Breakfasts.  If you travel to Washington State, Tacoma is a stop worth considering.

Tacoma, WA is located on the lower Puget Sound in Washington State.

Tacoma has a population approaching 200,000 and an elevation of 87 feet above sea level.

The area was discovered in 1792 by Captain George Vancouver and the first business, a saw-mill was established in 1852.  The biggest boom for Tacoma with the Northern Pacific Railroad selecting Tacoma as its western terminal.

Today Tacoma hosts a variety of industries and the lumber industry still ranks high in importance.  Tacoma is central to a vast variety of tourist activities in the region including Hood Canal, Mount Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, the Seattle/Tacoma International Airport, and the Pacific Ocean Beaches.

The City has many museums, universities, the waterfront, and Point Definace Park

Although we don’t rate hotels, any facility listed  on our site meets our standard of, “we would go back again and again.”  On our recommendation pages we give photos and a full description of the facility.  Look for our Gold Star Award facilities with recommendation pages.

NW Tacoma area

NE Tacoma area

We consider Northwest Greater Tacoma to include everything west of the downtown area, the area around the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and the area around Point Defiance Park.

NW Tacoma also includes the area of the Kitsap Peninsula near the Tacoma Narrows Bridge such as Gig Harbor.

We plan to develop pages for this area soon.

We consider Northeast Tacoma to be that portion of the City east of Interstate-705 along the waterfront of Commencement Bay and out to Dash Point.

NE Tacoma not only includes the NE quadrant of the City, such as Dash Point, it also includes the cities of  Fife, Milton,  and Edgewood.
